I have always had a grá for quality natural essential oils. Whether I'm making body sprays, diffusing their beautiful scents throughout my home or using whilst cleaning I always opt for the best ones.
Unlike today's household cleaning products that are filled with so many nasty chemicals and toxins, essential oils are natural, safe, non toxic and inexpensive.
There are so many amazing essential oils available to clean your home with so cleaning with these little beauties can actually make cleaning not so boring after all.
It never ceases to amaze me what a little white vinegar, some water and a good quality essential oil can do.
Below are my top five favourite go to essential oils that I would highly recommend for home cleaning:
1. Tea Tree oil
This essential oil is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. It has disinfectant, antiseptic and anti-microbial properties. A must have essential oil in every home. It really does keep those nasty germs at bay. Just take a glass spray bottle, fill it with 250ml of water and 250ml of white vinegar, add 10-15 drops of tea tree oil, shake well then use to clean pretty much everywhere in your house.
2. Lavender oil
This oil without a doubt is one of my all time favourites. Lavender oil is naturally anti-bacterial and smells beautiful It is also incredibly soothing which makes it ideal for use around your home especially the bedrooms as can help reduce stress and also help aid a good nights rest. All you need is 2 cups of distilled water, 10 drops of Lavender oil, add to glass spray bottle, shake well and off you go.
3. Lemon oil
This oil acts as a natural disinfectant for surfaces that also eliminates mold and achieves a super streak free shine and smells refreshingly amazing. This oil is really good for cleaning windows...add 2/3 cups of white vinegar with 1 1/3 of distilled water and 10 drops of lemon oil into a glass spray bottle, shake well. So simple. No excuses now for streaky windows.
4. Eucalyptus oil
This oil is an all rounder oil to use at home. It has so many benefits - antiseptic, antibacterial and a natural deodoriser. Super for floor cleaning - natural grease buster. Just add 20 drops to your mop bucket of warm water, get mopping and say goodbye to dirt and germs.
5. Peppermint oil
This oil is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Add a few drops of peppermint oil to your rubbish disposal bins and other areas of your home that may carry a smell. The cool invigorating scent will leave your home smelling minty fresh and clean.
